About Us

As we look into 2016 and celebrating Bidwell Perk’s 20th Anniversary, Gentry and I have taken a moment to look back at the last 9 ½ years. Almost 10 years ago, we moved back to my hometown, bringing with us our 10-year-old twin boys and purchased this amazing local coffeehouse. Gentry and I had extensive retail experience, but coffee was new to us. We quickly fell in love with the business, our customer and our community.

Gentry and I joined service and local organizations finding ways to volunteer and give back to our community and looked for ways to grow and evolve an already successful café. We expanded the organic coffee offerings, sourced local and established bakeries to bring in exceptional pastries, updated the interior space to create a warm and cozy environment and brought in home décor items so that customers could take a little bit of the Perk home with them.

Most recently, we have taken the biggest leap in growing our business by acquiring our beer and wine license. We have had a vision of creating a European style café, and thought Bidwell Perk could evolve to be just that. We have an incredible wine list, a strong beer line up and developed a small plate menu that layers on to our full lunch menu. We continue to focus on our coffee and tea specialty drinks and have expanded our breakfast menu as well.

We look forward to many more years with our loyal customers, and keeping this community gathering place a truly local Chico experience.
